How we check
We collect what the makers, named reviewers and owners have published about each espresso machine, check every quote against its source, and show you the link.
What we use
- The maker’s own numbers. Basket size, heat-up time, tank size and height come from the maker’s manual or product page. Each figure links to the page it came from.
- Named reviewers who used the machine. We quote outlets like Tom’s Guide, CoffeeGeek, TechRadar and Whole Latte Love, and we name them. We only use what they say they saw or measured.
- Owners. We read owner threads on coffee forums like Home-Barista, deal sites and review sites for problems that show up again and again, like weak steam or grinders that can’t go fine enough.
- Amazon prices. Prices come from Amazon’s own data feed, checked every day. If a price is more than 24 hours old, we hide it.
- Recalls. We search the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s recall list for every machine.
What we don’t do
We do not run our own lab tests. We do not claim to have pulled shots on a machine unless we say who did. When a fact can’t be found in a source we can link, the page says “Not stated” instead of guessing.
How a quote gets on the page
A script opens each source page again and looks for the exact words we quote. If the words are gone or changed, the fact comes off the page until we check it again. Right now we track 22 espresso machines and 3 grinders.
How we make money
When you buy through a link on this site, Amazon pays us a small share of the sale. It costs you nothing extra. Every machine we cover is in Amazon’s Kitchen category, so we earn the same percentage whichever one you pick. Brands don’t pay us to be picked.
